With this tour travel through magnificant landscapes and unpoluted mountainous areas; Go arround some of the oldest lakes in the World and learn about the rare and endemic species; Enjoy the natural beauties of Macedonia and in the same time discover its most important ciltural-historical monuments and ethnoraphic values.
Skopje – Mavrovo – St.Jovan Bigorski – Ohrid
Accepting the group at Skopje (airport or bus/train station ) in the afternoon hours. Panoramic sight-seeing of Skopje and going to Mavrovo through Tetovo & Gostivar. A short coffee-break on Mavrovo Lake. Going on with a visit to the canyon of river Radika to the monastery of St, Jovan Bigorski (XI ct), sight-seeing of the monastery. We go on along Radika to Debar and then along the river Crn Drim and the lakes of Spilje & Globocica to Ohrid. On the way we make a short stop in Struga to visit the Bridge of Poetry. We arrive in the hotel in the evening hours. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast. Sight-seeing of the Old town with Roman theater, numerous Byzantine churches with good frescoes: fortified upper city with early Christian churches. Visit of: St. Sofia , St. Bogorodica, St Nikola (outside look ), Museum Robevci, St. Bogorodica Perivlepta (St. Kliment), Icon Galery, Roman Theater, Car Samouils castle, St. Panteleimon (St. Kliments Universuty), St. Kaneo (outside look). Optional lunch in national restaurant (taste the famous Ohrid trout, excellent macedonian wines). After lunch a stroll through Ohrid Carsija (Bazaar) where you can buy the unique Ohrid Pearls. Free afternoon. We could organize optional lake-cruise. Return to the hotel in the evening hours. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Ohrid – Bitola – Kavadarci – Skopje
Breakfast. Departure to St. Naum. Sight-seeing the springs of Crn Drim river. Visit of the church of St. Naum. Afterwards we continue to Bitola across mountain Galicica and along the coast of Prespa Lake. When in Bitola we visit the Ancient town of Heraclea Lyncestis (outside look), founded by Philip the Macedon on what would later become the Via Egnatia, displaying mostly Roman/ early Christian remains, with theater, monumental fountain, and early churches. Sight-seeing of Bitola, visiting the Sirok Sokak- street with the most beautiful Neoclasics buildings, the church of St. Dimitri, the Clock Tower, the Bezisten and the Old Bazaar. Short coffee-break. Continuing through Prilep to Kavadarci. Visit the winery Tikves the oldest & biggest in the country. Optional lunch with national specialities and the famous wines. Than we continue to Skopje. Arrival in Skopje- capital of the country in the evening hours. Boarding in a hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast. Sight-seeing in Skopje: Skopje Fortress, church of St. Spas, Old town , Old bazaar, Daut Pashin Amam, Stone Bridge, Square Macedonia. Free time for individual activites, shopping. Optional lunch with traditional barbeque. Transfer to the airport.
